Matthew Wayne Tress, 34, of Bluffview Wisconsin died suddenly from brain damage sustained during cardiac arrest on August 15, 2019.

Mathew was born May 10, 1985 at RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, England, to Lana (Dobbs) and William Tress Sr. Born and raised as a “military brat” Matt lived in England (twice), Illinois, Arizona, Maryland, and Wisconsin. From a very early age Matt exhibited an interest in the culinary arts. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up he would often reply “I want to own a restaurant.” He would even go on to describe in detail how the restaurant would be styled and the type of food he would serve. The restaurant, style, and food would evolve over time but it was a dream that he never entirely gave up on even though it never came to fruition.

Making and serving good food was Matt’s passion but not his only passion. He had very eclectic tastes in music, from heavy death metal to bluegrass with a whole lot of other genres in between. His football team was the Minnesota Viking and he followed the Baltimore Orioles in baseball. He also had an extensive collection of Manga books and Anime movies.

Matthew was a very thoughtful son and never forgot a holiday or birthday. He was someone his brothers could count on in a pinch. His nieces and nephew adored him and loved to spend time with him. Matt brought joy, food, and laughter to everyone he encountered. Matt registered as an organ donor and we as a family felt that it was important that his wish was honored. Matt’s kidneys, heart, lung and liver will help others in their continued journey through life and he will live on through his generous act.

Matt is survived by his mother, Lana Dobbs of Port Edwards, WI, his father William Tress Sr. of Pasadena, Maryland, his brothers William Jr. of Monroe, WI, and Joseph of Madison, WI, paternal grandmother Helen Tress and paternal grandfather Thomas Tress, nieces Sage and Aeary and nephew Joseph, his aunt Leah Dobbs Byers and her children Celia, Ashley, and Zach.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Cecelia Dobbs and William Dobbs Jr.
